Two-time Grammy winning US singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale returns to Australia with the ‘Game Changer World Tour’ in March for a run of headline dates in Sydney, Melbourne and Castlemaine followed by performances at Port Fairy Folk Festival and CMC Rocks Qld Festival during his tenth visit to our shores.

“Australia has felt like a second home since my first visit back in 2002,” says Jim. “The fans truly love music, they go deep and I always feel so much love every time I play to Aussie audiences. I can’t wait to get back down under.”

An A-list Nashville songwriter, Jim’s songs have helped sell millions of albums for artists like George Strait, the Chicks, Patty Loveless, Lee Ann Womack, Blake Shelton, Solomon Burke, Gary Allan and Vince Gill.

Classic songs like ‘Where the Sidewalk Ends’, ‘You Don’t Seem to Miss Me’, ‘Hole in My Head’, ‘Halfway Down’, ‘We Really Shouldn’t Be Doing This’ and many more have come from his pen.

The legendary Americana artist has a long history with Australia and Australian musicians, as demonstrated by the forthcoming tribute album Halfway Down Under, which has a litany of acclaimed local artists from Shane Nicholson to Holiday Sidewinder to Charlie Collins and more reinterpret songs from throughout his 30+ year catalogue of classic songs.

Australian rock singer/songwriter and media personality Ella Hooper will be a special guest on the Sydney and Melbourne shows, along with acclaimed alt-country singer-songwriter Katie Brianna who also appears on the Halfway Down Under album.

Jim’s eclectic catalogue of albums runs the gamut of roots styles, from bluegrass to R&B to his first love, traditional country music, on his 35th album ‘Game Changer’. Too expansive, eclectic and creatively curious to fit into any prescribed genre boxes, he innovated what is now called Americana music, long before there was a term for it.

The McCartney-esque melodies sung in his aching high lonesome tenor, the fiercely authentic bluegrass songs with mind-expanding psychedelic lyrics… nothing about Jim’s music can be reduced to a single influence, and no other songwriter would fuse these classic strains of tune-craft into such unexpected but immediately satisfying combinations.
